Care Guide
Basic Rules and Hints how to take good care of leatherwear
- Any kind of treatment should invariably be tested beforehand on the inner side of the material.
- Never use sharp solvents.
- Wet leather garments should be put on a duly shaped hanger for drying at normal room temperature.
- Don’t expose wet or humid garments to heat.
- Never keep leatherwear in plastic bags.
- Ironing should be done on the inner side (use a piece of cloth to iron on,
select “wool temperature”)
Protect from intense light
- While used, car seats without soft protective covers will produce extremely high friction and heat that may cause abrasion of colours.
- SUEDE, NUBUCK
leather with a coarse surface
Suede crock: no claim - Extremely fine-grained crock that may come off during the first-wearings.
- to be removed by vacuum-cleaner.
- to be rubbed off by use of wet chamois leather.
- to be removed by use of an adhesive tape roller.
In the beginning wear leather garments to match colours of other garments
Rain drops
- Brush suede when fibres look like glued to one another by use of sponge-like cloth or crepe brush, in alternating directions so as to follow or move against the texture. Removal of Dust
- Brush suede garment regularly by use of a crepe brush or a sponge-like cloth.
Recommendations
- Don’t wear a suede or nubuck collar just next to your skin.
- Treat collars, pocket enterings, sleeve ends regularly by use of a crepe brush or a leather eraser.
- NAPPA: colour covered.
- Remove water stains by use of a soft leather eraser.
- Clean and grease by using a soft dustcloth and applying nappa polish.
- Heavily soiled pieces: use leather cleaning liquid, but apply carefully.
ANILINE: transparent
- Remove scratches by rubbing them off thoroughly with the ball of your thumb.
- Stains of grease or oil will disappear gradually without any action taken. Just wait patiently.
- Remove greasy edges by use of a leather eraser.
- Hold water stains over steam.
- Don’t use greasy nappa polish.
- Keep in mind: leather garments and aniline in particular, go along very well with a certain patina and, therefore, need not be cleaned too often.
- NAPPALAN: coated suede
- Water stains and light dirt can be erased from impregnated nappa. Use soft, transparent special leather eraser.
- Don’t apply liquid stain removers (may leave behind traces and/or remove
coating)
